In 2019 Maslenitsa celebrations will be held in March, 4-10.

Maslenitsa is a jolly and beautiful Russian holiday. This celebration lasts for a week. Sometimes we call it the "pancake week", because in this time everyone has to cook and eat blini (pancakes) with many fillings and toppings, from sour cream to caviar, to salmon and all things sweet. Why precisely pancakes? Because pancakes are round and yellow, just like the sun! On this holiday Russians are happy about the sun and spring and see off the long winter.
