White cliffs is an amazing creature of nature. Iturup Island’s mountains, stretching 28 km along Okhotsk sea coastline, made with soft pumice (formed as a result of volcano eruption), amaze with their beauty. The emerald-like green, covering the formed composition, brings a special charm to this place.
The pumice suffered from strong erosion under the influence of Okhotsk sea storms, rains and majority of rivers and streams that formed the bizarre and amazing cliff shapes. The sand at the coastline is mixed: white quartz sand and black titano-magnetite one. Perhaps, this mix gives the dark grey color.
This place is hard to be described in words; it is worth being seen at least once in your life.
